Medellin GuideImagine the best information from Medellín Living in the palm of your hand, available wherever you are in the city (or world), regardless of whether you have access to the internet.

In partnership with Playabrite, a US-based software company, I’ve been working to bring that vision to life in the form of a new iPhone app.

We’re excited to announce the Medellín Guide by Medellín Living will available for free via the Apple App Store beginning December 16, 2014.

Update: The app is now available for download

Why an iPhone App?

Currently, 30 percent of Medellin Living’s readers access the site through a smartphone, and of those, the overwhelming majority use iPhone.

Plus, my partner and I are both iPhone users, and have been frustrated by the lack of quality apps for the city.

While he took the lead on the technical development, I was responsible from an editorial standpoint.

I curated a list of over 180 places in and around Medellín, writing descriptions and choosing photos specifically with mobile users in mind.

Our goal is to give you just enough information to help you make a decision, plus the addresses and accurate map locations to help you find what you’re looking for.

Launching the app is just the start. Once it’s available, we’ll continue to add more places, photos, features and interactivity, in an effort to give visitors, expats and residents a world-class app at their fingertips.

Launch Party at Humo

To celebrate the launch of the Medellín Guide, we’re hosting a party at Humo Restaurant from 7 – 9 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014.

The first 35 people to arrive will receive two complimentary drink tickets good for 3 Cordilleras beers, plus there will be finger food for you to fill your belly.

RSVP above or on the Facebook page

We’re excited to have made this project a reality and hope you’ll join us in downloading the app when it’s released December 16, 2014.

    • Yes, I would definitely like to create an Android version at some point, as that would increase the total number of people who can use and benefit from the app. In the short term, we’re going to be focusing on improving the iPhone version.
