Las Tapas 10 doesn’t look like much from the outside, which might be why I never noticed it despite being along Calle 10, very near to Parque Lleras and Casa Kiwi Hostel.

I met up with Leif and Benny last December for dinner there, and the food and sangria were as good as any I’ve had at a tapas restaurant in the USA.

It was a tasty surprise, considering the prices are cheaper than most of the restaurants a few blocks away in the city’s Zona Rosa.

There are only about 5 tables in the little Spanish restaurant, and they spill out onto the sidewalk, so if it were raining, that number might be reduced to 3.

It appeared to be a family run restaurant, which added to the charm of eating there.

A cup of sangria costs only 3,000 COP (or $1.60), which meant Leif and I kept ordering refills.  A pitcher costs 15,000 COP (or $8).

If you’re looking for tapas in Medellin, Tapas 10 is the perfect place to take a date for dinner before heading to the nearby bars, and due to its proximity to the Poblado hostels, especially Casa Kiwi and Tiger’s Paw, it’s also a good spot for backpackers to take a break from a steady diet of empanadas and arepas.

  1. I’m currently staying at Casa Kiwi hostel and have walked past this place. Think I have found somewhere for dinner tonight.

    Thanks.
