I don’t recall hearing a lot of Bachata music while I was living in Medellin last year, however I’d hear it every night I went out dancing back in the Washington, DC area. Aventura’s Dile Al Amor was one track I heard without fail.
Bachata is a slow, sensual dance, and most of the songs sound the same to me. Perhaps because I’m more familiar with it now, I’m hearing it a little more often in Colombia.
Even though the basic steps are amongst the easiest of all the Latin dances, to do it well (ie. seductively) takes practice.
On a personal note, I’m still not ready to give up my salsa lesson and practice time to learn Bachata.
