La Catedral

For the photo of the week, this is a picture from La Catedral (The Cathedral) which used to be a prison built by Pablo Escobar, and is now a monastery.  It is located way up in the hills of Envigado.

Hi Holly – happy new year!

It’s cool you made it to La Catedral, as I didn’t track it down. Would be awesome if you could post the address or directions, or how you got there.

I know at least one hotel offers Pablo Escobar themed tours, but I tried to find the main spots (grave, where he was killed) on my own.

The adress, in case your still looking for it, is:
Reserva Ecologica la Miel in Envigado.
Taxi Drivers will know it as it is now (as you guys probably know) a monastry.

Thanks Philipp. This sounds silly in retrospect, but I never thought to ask a taxi driver to take me there. Looks like I’ve got that to look forward to when I go back to Medellin.
