Colombian Dating: 18 Great Places to Take a Date

When you find your perfect match, all you will want to do is spend time with her and take her on as many dates as you can. But, after she says “yes,” there are some questions that will start haunting you, like “Where should I take her?” “How much will I have to spend on this date?” “Is x or y restaurant good?” So, I decided to help you by creating a list of some places where I, as a Colombian woman, like to go. I’ve divided the list into four categories of places to take a date, depending on what kind of date you want to have:

  • If you want a cozy and quiet place where you and your date can enjoy some good coffee and chat about life, check out the Cafes.
  • If you want a quiet date where you can talk and have amazing food with great ambience, have a look at the Restaurants.
  • If you want to go for a drink, enjoy good music, and have some snacks, check out the Drinks section.
  • If you want to go dancing (which Colombian girls usually like), have a look at the Dancing places.

Take into account that this is just my point of view (and some of my friends’). But I promise that I’ll try to give you some different and nice options….

Cafes

La Taza Tienda de Cafe:  Circular 75 #39-33

This beautiful, small cafe is located in Laureles. Here the food and the coffee are out of this world, and the staff is extremely friendly. La Taza is a good choice because it’s quiet and small, so you and your date can chat for hours without being disturbed

Paraiso: Calle 42 # 70-38

This small, amazing new cafe is perfect for spending your afternoon talking, drinking awesome coffee and eating exquisite pastries. The service is perfect and the owners are there almost every day to help you and your date with anything you want. The best thing about this place is that they support local and small cafeteros (coffee makers). My recommendation is the cafe vietnamita, which is a shot of condensed milk and strong coffee. The tea and pesto bread are amazing too.

Otraparte: Calle 27 Sur #43A-61 (Envigado)

What makes Otraparte one of the best places to go on a date, besides the great ambience and delicious food, is that it’s also a museum, so you will always find something interesting to see or do.

Pergamino: Carrera 37 8A-37

Going to Pergamino is always a good choice. You and your date can try delicious coffee prepared using different methods or eat spectacular pastries. The ambience is perfect for sitting and talking for hours, and the staff is always willing to teach you everything they know about coffee. The location is perfect because you can start your date with a coffee and small talk and then go for something to eat or drink in the best area of El Poblado.

Restaurants

Carmen:  Carrera 36 #10A-27

Carmen is one of the top restaurants in Medellin. The food is out of this world, the service is perfect, and the setting is cozy and modern. As their mission, they say they want to offer customers a unique and delicious dining experience, and for me they are killing it.

Dante: Carrera 43 A #1 Sur-150

This amazing place is actually managed by an Italian expat, so you can be sure that the food is 100% Italian style and delicious. This place is really really good, and for me it’s perfect for a lunch date. Try the Crudo e Burrata.

OCI.Mde: Carrera 33 #7-21

The name of this breathtaking place comes from Ocio, which means “leisure.” And, as they say (and I agree), it’s the perfect place to spend your leisure time. The atmosphere is calm and chill, and the food is exquisite.

Oci.Mde is always a good choice, and you’ll never get tired of it because they change the menu every five months.

Amelia Fondue & Crepes: Calle 10B # 36-23

What can I say about Amelia…I love it! The food and the service are incredible, and the ambience is just perfect for a date…. This place will never disappoint you.

For Drinks

Burdo: Carrera 35 #7127

Chic and cozy are the words that perfectly describe Burdo. For me, this is the ideal place for an after-work date because of the feel of the place. Here the music is good, and the cocktails and the food are also very good, so there’s no doubt about it: this is one of the great places to take a date in Medellin.

Old Tom – The Gin Palace: Carrera 34 #7-88

If you love gin the way I do, Old Tom is the perfect place for you! It’s a small business, inspired by the prohibition era, where you can find all kinds of gin cocktails. At the moment, they don’t sell food, but I contacted the owner regarding this, and he told me that big surprises are coming for the bar. So we can assume that they’ll probably start selling food soon. My recommendation: The truth is that I have no idea what I have ordered there because I’ve always asked the barman to surprise me. BUT the “bathtub” is very famous and unique.

Panorama: Calle 8 # 34-33

This is an amazing rooftop located in the best area of Medellin: Provenza. The chill vibe makes it one of the perfect places to take a date for a cool and relaxing time.

Try to arrive early because the third floor (the best floor) gets full at 7-8; if you don’t make it, try the second floor balcony. The sangria is really good and unique, and the arepas are the perfect snack.

LeParch: Calle 16a Sur #9E-157

Here you’ll find one of the best views of Medellin, amazing food and cocktails, and the perfect setting to spend your afternoon looking at the perfect sunset…basically the perfect everything!

Delirio Rooftop: Transversal 39B #74B 09

If you want to go out for a good cocktail, awesome food, and great atmosphere, but want to avoid all the people from Provenza, Delirio is the place for you.

Altagracia: Cra. 35 #8A-81

This place is perfect if you want to have some delicious cocktails. Their Mojito is one of the best in Medellin. I don’t know how or why, but the ambience in Altagracia is always chill and cool, so you can be sure that you and your date will have an awesome time here.

Dancing

Bolivar: Calle 10 # 40-30

Bolivar is one of the best nightclubs to dance reggaeton and urban music in Medellin. So, if this is what your date wants, there’s no doubt about it: Bolivar is the perfect choice. The decoration and the music will make you feel like partying on the beach.

Don’t wear “gringo” clothes because they wont let you in if they don’t like how you look.

BLUE: Calle 10 #40-20

This is the place where you want to go if you don’t want the typical Colombian party.  At El Blue the night starts with classic rock, which is perfect if you want to talk and get to know your date before the actual party. But once the night starts to get fun, the music starts to change and suddenly you are dancing like crazy and having the best time of your life.

Bombay/Cuchitril: Calle 10 #52-87

Of all the places to take a date, this one has it all!! Why? Because you can have two completely different parties at the same place. Bombay and El Cuchitril are separated only by a door but the music, the vibe, and the people are absolutely different. The best thing is that you only have to pay one cover and you can move between both parties all night.

BONUS

3 Cordilleras: This is a Paisa brewery located at Industriales (Calle 30 #44-176). At 3 Cordilleras you can take the tour cervecero, and see how they prepare the beer and then go upstairs to the bar and drink beer.  This is a great plan because it’s something that you or your date probably don’t do every day. Plus it’s very cheap: for 28,000 COP you can take the tour and drink five beers on Fridays; and on Thursdays it’s even cheaper at 23,000 COP for the tour and the beers.
