Introducing Jack Magazine (formerly known as The Arepa).

Last Saturday, Jack Magazine made its official debut in Medellin via a launch party at Vanilla Discoteca in Poblado.

Formerly known as The Arepa, the magazine started two years ago by Robin Finley of California has undergone a change in both name and direction.

Jack Magazine is slightly bigger than The Arepa, with a larger scope — all of Colombia, instead of just Medellin, however the focus will continue to be on Colombian culture, music, and fashion.

The June/July 2011 issue includes stories on Cartagena, surfing in Colombia, tango, and of course some fashion pics with pretty models.

It has been exciting to watch the magazine grow and evolve over the last two years, and I have no doubt it will continue to have a bright future.

As for the launch party at Vanilla, it was a mashup of different events, from DJ’s to a faux lingerie model shoot, complete with complimentary chocolates from Me Late Chocolate.

The venue itself seemed more like an art gallery space than a typical Colombian club. To get a better feel for it, I’d want to check back on a regular night.

Whether you want to receive the physical magazine, or simply catch up with Colombian culture online, be sure and check out Jack Magazine.
