The Parque Lineal Ciudad del Rio is a swath of public green space that runs behind the buildings of the Ciudad del Rio apartment complex.
In addition to residents, the park has become an increasingly popular destination for paisas from around the city.
They come to walk and play with their dogs, have picnics, skateboard, bicycle, hang out with friends, and just relax.
Weather permitting, late Saturday afternoons and evenings, as well as Sundays are the most popular days to visit.
Walking through the park during the weekends, you may also catch a whiff of marijuana, but don’t let that scare you off. There’s always plenty of police walking the length of the park, keeping an eye on everyone.
A few times each year, concerts and events are held in the plaza behind the art museum, which draw even bigger crowds.
For those that don’t bring their own food, there are vendors selling snacks and ice cream throughout Parque Lineal Ciudad del Rio.
Several water fountains can also be found, including ones that are near the ground for canine friends.
Adjacent the museum is Bonuar, which offers some of the best burgers in the city. And in front of the museum, you’ll find several smaller restaurants and cafes, in addition to an ATM machine.

It’s a very cool park to visit and have picnic with friends. I see a lot of Couchsurfing events taking place there. Imagine, when all of that construction is finished it will probably be one of the most desired parts of town to be in (especially for expats).
I should plug myself back into the Couchsurfing group when I get back in July, especially if they’re having meetups in my backyard.
Not sure if you heard, but the Modern Art Museum is going to be renovated and enlarged over the next few years as well.
I have not, that’s great news!
