The Medellin Living October meetup event will take place on Thursday, October 19, at 7pm at Borneo Restaurant and Bar in Poblado.

Whether you’ve just arrived in Medellin or have been here for years, you’re welcome to come to the Medellin Living meetups. It’s a great opportunity to get advice, swap travel stories, and meet like-minded people who share an interest in the city of eternal spring.

This month we return to Poblado to check out Borneo, a popular Provenza restaurant and bar. Borneo features a nice open-air dining area and a bar for mixing and mingling.

Borneo recently expanded their food menu, which now includes a number of snacks as well as main courses.

Our Medellin Living October meetup isn’t a sponsored event, so attendees must pay for their own food and drinks.

Date: Thursday, October 19, 7:00pm to midnight

Borneo Restaurant and Bar is located in Poblado at Carrera 34 #8a – 29. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the Poblado metro station or a five-minute taxi ride.

Please RSVP for the Medellin Living October Meetup

This meetup is a great way to network and meet others with common interests and hobbies. It also gives long-time Medellin residents a chance to share their knowledge and help out those who are new to the city. Please try to welcome the newcomers and introduce them to your friends!

You’ll also have a chance to meet some of the Medellin Living writers. Maybe you can suggest an idea for a story you would like to see them write for Medellin Living. Also, don’t forget to invite your friends and like and share the event on Facebook!

If you plan to attend, please RSVP so we know how many people to expect. You can RSVP on Facebook here, or below in the comments if you are not on Facebook. Or you can RSVP via our Medellin Living group on Meetup.com.

About Borneo Restaurant and Bar

Borneo Restaurant and Bar opened about a year ago. It has become a popular spot in the trendy Provenza neighborhood. The restaurant features a nice patio area for dining as well as plenty of comfortable lounge-type seating.

Borneo offers a wide variety of drink options. They have a good choice of beers, including Corona, Club Colombia, Budweiser, and BBC. Their cocktail selection includes a number of special Borneo cocktails as well as a Margarita and a Mojito.

Borneo also serves a wide variety of wines, including a number of reds, whites, and sparkling wines. The menu includes three different kinds of sangria as well.

The Borneo bar is also well stocked with a number of rums, whiskeys, tequilas, and gins, in addition to popular standbys such as Aguardiente Antioqueño and Jagermeister. They also have flavored sodas (such as watermelon soda), natural fruit juices, and soft drinks like 7 up and Pepsi. Coffee lovers will be happy to see three varieties of java, including an espresso and a cappuccino.

In addition, Borneo has a good selection of food options on their menu. This includes the salmon al limon (pictured above), filet mignon, and chicken with mushrooms. They also offer a selection of four pizzas and mini-hamburgers.

For those with a smaller appetite, Borneo offers a wide selection of tasty finger foods for sharing, including chicken fingers, patacones with shrimp, and sweet potatoes with cheddar cheese.

Our Medellin Living Meetups

In response to popular demand, Medellin Living restarted its meetups in January of 2017 after a two-year hiatus. The new Medellin Living meetups have been a huge success, growing steadily from one month to the next. We’ve been averaging about 100 attendees at the last few meetups.

We are currently alternating the meetups between Poblado and Laureles. The events usually take place on the second Thursday of each month (this month is an exception).

Our November meetup is planned for Laureles. Details will be posted on this site one to two weeks before each meetup.

Note: there isn’t any extra fee required to attend Medellin Living meetups, and no membership is required.

We have two additional ways for our readers to keep up with Medellín Living events. You can follow us on our Medellin Living Events & Activities Facebook group or via our Medellin Living group on Meetup.com.

    • Hello David,

Sabaneta is a bit far for many of our attendees, and we didn’t get a good turnout last time in Envigado. So for now we’re focusing on doing meetups mainly in Poblado and Laureles, where we always get a good crowd.

But we haven’t forgotten about our readers in the south end of the city. At some point we will probably add some additional events which will include Envigado and Sabaneta locations.

In the meantime, I hope you’re able to make it to our events in Poblado and Laureles.
