The Runways of Colombiamoda 2014

The first runway show I attended was by Portuguese Shoes

Colombiamoda 2014 was my fourth year attending Colombia’s Fashion Week, and my first time doing so with a press pass.

Runway shows at Colombiamoda are normally invite-only, but with the press pass, I was allowed to attend whichever I wanted.

Not only that, but the press, photographers and videographers had a separate queue and were given early access to choose seats (if they didn’t have already have one reserved), before the rest of the attendees were allowed in.

I discovered an affinity for attending the shows. Each was different and unique, with music carefully selected to fit the mood of the designs.

It may have been a shoe show, but the colorful dresses were what captured my eye

Leonisa is a top Colombian lingerie company. Danish model Nina Agdal (seen here) was one of three models featured on the cover of the 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue
The Leonisa show was attended by Señorita Colombia and many top models
Despite a fourth row center seat, the low lighting made it hard for me to capture the models clearly
My best shot of the show
This lingerie I find ugly, but I love the feeling of motion in the photo
Laura Tobon is a Colombian model and TV presenter. Laura and Nina were the stars of the show.
Agua Bendita is a popular Colombian swimwear which has been represented by some of the world’s top models
In this show, I learned two things. Unless you’re VIP sitting in the front row, you’re better off in a higher position as it can be difficult to see from the second or third row.
The second thing I learned is that swimwear shows have much more lighting than lingerie shows, making them easier to photograph
Studio F is another Colombian company specializing in women’s fashion
Known for their denim collections, Studio F also produces swimwear
Izabel Goulart is a Brazilian supermodel and former Victoria’s Secret Angel
Izabel was both the first and last to walk in the Studio F show
She was clearly the star of the show, and received a large round of applause as she walked off the runway

OndadeMar is another Colombian swimwear line
Turquoise bikini
In addition to swimsuits, OndadeMar produces beautiful beachwear and resortwear for women…
…and men.
Overall, OndadeMar’s show was my favorite of the five runway shows I attended

  • What a wonderful event. Being in the press has it's perks, those press pass are really something aren't they? This are some good shots! And it's also good to see Izabel again, I haven't seen her in a while...
