My favorite flower is the orchid.
That is the reason the only event I attended at this year’s Feria de las Flores was the Orquídeas, Pájaros y Flores, or Orchids, Birds and Flowers exhibit, open Aug. 6 to 10 at Jardín Botánico.
I went on the last day, hoping to avoid a crowd. I failed. But I saw some pretty birds and lots of pretty flowers.
Like art, don’t bother asking me for a sophisticated analysis of orchids. I can’t give you one.
I read “The Orchid Thief” more than a decade ago so my knowledge is lacking.
It’s all very subjective and there for us to appreciate in our own way. No point of arguing over it.
So I have an idea. In the captions, I’m going to tell you what I think each orchid looks like, kind of like a Rorschach test. Each photo will have a number, except for the bird photos, which will be mixed in to change things up a bit.
For each numbered orchid photo, we would love if you would comment and tell us what you think each one looks like.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Ok, time for a bird break.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming…
Well those were our favorites. We’ll leave you with a couple of pics of pretty birds because they are nice to look at too. After all, bird is the slang term for pretty girl in England.
