On Wednesday evening, I met with my first paying student at the San Diego Mall.
We had met once before my first week in Medellin through a mutual friend.
She is heading for a series of interviews in the United States this weekend, and wanted to work on her pronunciation.
Unlike trying to sell myself to a school for classroom teaching, I felt much more confident being of support in a one-on-one conversational setting.
It is another small step in the right direction.
This Sunday, I have plans to meet with a friend of a friend for the first time, who also wants to work on his English.
My hope is to transition a pro bono offer into a for-pay experience.
If I am going to build an income, I need to change my mindset from being the nice foreigner willing to spend his free time with people to the nice foreigner establishing a value for his time.

When I spent some time going around Australia, I thought I didn't want to go back to Europe and stay there, taking any job, but my girlfriend wouldn't agree :)

Hey Aur, thanks for checking out this new blog of mine. I am signed up for Commission Junction, though I never really saw any returns from their ads. I know there is money to be made, I just need to experiment and find what works.
