On a truly average Saturday night, my friends and I wanted a real Colombian experience. I asked one of my Paisa friends to take us anywhere but Poblado.
We ended up on LA 33 in Laureles. I had seen the bars and clubs lining this street before and had always wanted to try it out, but hadn’t had the chance. I was super excited for the night.
We ended up at a small Salsa Bar. We found one of the few tables still open in the back, and we ordered a media of Rum and a few cokes for the four of us.
A few drinks in, they started asking for girls to come up and dance on the stage. At least, that’s what my friends told me. I happily jumped up there, basically forgetting that I don’t dance Salsa at all or speak Spanish.
Luckily, it was more about hip-hop dancing, which I am capable of. Eventually I realized that it was a contest. There was one guy from the bar that was dancing with all the girls, in a very suggestive way…to put it gently.
I had a great time. and I ended up winning second place! My prize was a media of Rum for the table!
If you want to party like a real local. Check out the area. There are a ton of different bars with a range of music to make anyone’s night.

I hope all things are well for you. I will be going to Medellin Colombia in a few days for a business trip there for my company. This is my first time in Colombia so I'm not sure what to expect. I had someone recomending the bar 33 for a nice evening of dancing.
I will be in Medellin for a whole week so I will like to know the city s little bit.
