First I would like to thank Dave for this great opportunity! Hopefully everybody here at MedellinLiving.com will enjoy reading my posts and I hope to hear back from you guys as well.
My name is Cathy and I am a Colombian-American 29 year old, two-time expat, born in Colombia and raised in Miami, currently living in Medellin. I speak Spanish, French and obviously English. It’s been 4 years since I moved back here (which wasn’t planned, I came on vacation and decided to stay) and I am so glad to have re-discovered my roots in a sense. Living in two countries and getting a good sense of the cultures really opens up your mind and perspective on things, which is what I hope to be able to share with you.
I am a Fine Arts major from Florida International University. I currently do a lot of things, such as teaching English, running and designing a dog clothing line called CAN BE HAPPY, playing the bass in a Led Zeppelin / Black Sabbath cover band and freelancing in photography whenever I get the chance.
I probably won’t be the one talking to you about Mango’s or about local soccer matches. I will most likely, among other odd bits, will be letting you know lots about the certain aspects of the transformation Medellin is undergoing, the music scene, wine, Colombian films, nearby towns, design, art, photography, food, tips on traveling and living here, the drastic contrasts Medellin offers, and the occasional interview with natives and foreigners that are doing positive and I-had-no-idea-this-could-happen-here types of things.
Hasta la próxima!

Hey welcome back to Medellin...again! Have you checked out the magazine called The Arepa. It is about a lot of the things you talked about. We are dedicating the next issue to the AfroColombiana culture here in the city because there is a lot of cool things going on within the Afro Community. Really cool music and dance, really positive social movement as well for the whole city. Let me know if you want a copy of the magazine, otherwise check out the page at http://www.thearepa.com
Thanks for letting me make the plug Dave! Un abrazo.
Claro, mi amigo.
Hi Robin! Yes, in fact The Arepa has been bookmarked on my browser for a while now :)
