Colombia’s ongoing conflict with the FARC continues to feature in the international news coverage of CNN.com.
A week or two ago, the coverage was surrounding the continued release of hostages. Since I cannot read Spanish yet, and there are no English newspapers in Colombia (to my knowledge), I have to rely on internet news coverage for current events.
Colombia rebels blamed for more Indian killings highlights the persecution of indigenous people in Colombia for not supporting the FARC.
I have a lot to learn in regards to the history of the country and motives behind this guerrilla group, however its perceived threat is still clearly keeping tourists at bay.
The good news is the government appears to be making notable progress in pushing FARC deeper into the jungles, thereby protecting the vital roads connecting the country.
