A friend recently recommended a salsa bar called Cient Fuegos for its free dance lessons on Thursday nights. Last Thursday, Martin joined me a mission to find the bar, the address being near Parque Lleras. The taxi dropped us off right near Casa Kiwi, and since I had no recollection of a salsa bar on that street during the month I lived at the hostel, I lost hope.
We managed to find the exact address on foot, only to realize it was the location of the new Le Pub de Octavia (salsa and rock bar). We spoke with the girl at the entrance who confirmed there were no salsa lessons on offer in the new venue. Bummed out because I wouldn’t get to further my dance skills that night, we made a lap around Parque Lleras and had a drink on the front porch of Octavia. It was still early, so everyone was eating dinner in the restaurants. Then we caught the bus back to Envigado from Parque Poblado.
Back at the apartment, I had the sense that I was coming down with a cold, and my sixth sense proved to be correct on this occasion. As a result, I spent Friday night watching a movie with Maira and going to bed early, and Saturday night playing with a shiny, new toy I just received (if you’ve been following my Twitter updates, then you already know what I’m talking about). And Sunday was all about the toy too. More on that later.
Update: Since I wrote the post above, I learned Cien Fuegos did not close, but rather moved to a location near Trilogia Bar (Industriales metro). I hope to confirm this in person with a night of dancing!
