When does the second biggest city in Colombia become a ghost town? It may get quiet on Sundays, but I have never seen anything as distinct as Medellin in the early afternoon on January 1st.
New Years Eve is a party, for sure, with fireworks and tradition. The next day, it is obvious just how hard everyone partied the night before. Even some of the major stores like Exito were closed for the holiday. Pretty interesting, considering most were open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
If you ever want to walk the streets of Poblado during the day, and see the streets and the parks empty, make it January 1st. I definitely got the feeling that I could own the city for the day.

I do not know if I’m in agreement with you here. While you do make an excellent point, I do not believe you’ve really given a large amount of thought to the other side of the argument. Maybe I could do a guest post or a follow-up, just let me know.
